Adviser Selected for Forbes' List of "America's Top RIA FIrms"

Adviser has been picked for Forbes’ inaugural list of “America’s Top RIA Firms.” The Forbes list, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone, virtual and in-person due diligence interviews and quantitative data.

“SHOOK’s focus on quality skews its recommendations towards firms in which we can thoroughly understand how each client is actually treated,” wrote R.J. Shook, who oversaw selection for the list. “[We] measure aspects like processes that are inherent in each client relationship, what is the team’s purpose, and what is the underlying culture that we see throughout all levels of employees.”

Out of more than 36,000 nominations received, 100 firms were selected for the Forbes list.

“We are honored to be acknowledged by Forbes as a top RIA,” said Adviser CEO Mario Ramos. “The firm is on a path to become one of the country’s most recognized independent advisers as we continue our ambitious period of rapid growth and expanded client services, while maintaining our foundational focus on customized wealth management with a personal touch.”

SHOOK Research described honorees on the list as “role model” firms that are “leading the way” with “best practices” and “providing a high-quality experience for clients.”

“When we meet with a firm or an adviser for a due diligence meeting, we are always thinking to ourselves, ‘Would we recommend this firm (or individual) to a friend or family member?’” Shook continued. “Quality is always first, if we’re going to include a firm (or advisor) on our rankings, we have to make sure everyone is of the highest quality.”

The Forbes recognition was just the latest accolade for Adviser. In September, Barron’s selected the firm as a “Top 100 RIA Firm” for 2022. The Boston Business Journal named Adviser among the “Largest Independent Investment Advisers in Massachusetts.” The company was also named a finalist on ThinkAdvisor’s LUMINARIES list of leaders in “Thought Leadership & Education.”

Adviser received numerous workplace awards in the past year. The firm was named among the “Best Places to Work in Money Management” by Pensions & Investments magazine, a “Best Place to Work for Financial Advisers” by InvestmentNews and among America’s “Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” by the National Association for Business Resources.

The firm has also garnered praise for its commitment to employee wellness. It was named among “The Nation’s Best and Brightest for Wellness” for 2022 and the company also earned a 2021 “Best Wellness Employer Bronze Certification” from Wellness Workdays, awarded in collaboration with experts from Harvard Medical School.

The Barron’s rankings serve as a benchmark for participating for wealth management professionals and a resource for individual investors seeking financial guidance and wealth management. To be nominated, advisers complete a detailed survey about their practice. Barron’s then conducts its own due diligence analysis and the resulting pool of candidates is then further screened to determine the Barron’s list of the country’s top 100 advisers.

Forbes’ “America’s Top Registered Investment Advisor Firms” ranking was developed by SHOOK Research and is based on in-person, virtual and telephone due diligence meetings and a ranking algorithm that includes: a measure of best practices, client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, including assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerance vary, and advisors rarely have audited performance reports. Neither SHOOK nor Forbes receive compensation in exchange for its Registered Investment Advisor Firm placements or rankings, which are determined independently (see methodology above). Participation in this directory is limited to ranked firms; once placed on a ranking, firms may choose to pay fees to Forbes and Shook for premium listing features.Adviser Investments did not pay any fees. SHOOK’s research and rankings provide opinions intended to help investors choose the right financial advisor or firm and not indicative of future performance or representative of any one client’s experience. Investors must carefully choose the right advisor or firm for their own situation and perform their own due diligence. Past performance is not an indication of future results.
