With pandemic restrictions lifted, Adviser Investments’ Adviser Cares committee was excited to be back in action with a recent visit to Community Servings, a vital local resource providing nutritious meals to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families.
Community Servings’ nutritionists develop customized menus to help recipients manage nutrition-related medication side effects and weight loss or gain. The organization also offers educational workshops to help people maintain and improve their health through diet and food preparation skills.
The organization welcomes an average of 600 volunteers every month—more than 53,000 hours a year—to assist with meal prep and food delivery as well as fundraising. On this day, Adviser Investments’ team peeled over 300 pounds of carrots, 120 pounds of celery and more than 200 onions, in addition to packaging individual portions of hummus.
Community Servings also offers a 12-week job-training program for budding local chefs seeking careers in the food service industry.
At Adviser Investments, we understand that unexpected challenges can strike anybody at any time. That’s why we work with nonprofits in the surrounding community to help protect individuals against food insecurity caused by illness.
We’re proud to partner with an organization like Community Servings to provide nutritious meals to families and individuals coping with crisis. To learn more about Community Servings’ efforts, please visit their website.
Thank you to Community Servings and the Adviser Investments’ meal-prep volunteers. We’ll see you again soon!
