NASDAQ Down 1.4% on Tech Sector Decline

Vice President Josh Jones has the market analysis for Monday, July 30. All of the major U.S. stock indexes fell today: The Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 both dropped 0.6% while the NASDAQ Composite declined 1.4% in response to disappointing earnings reports from a number of companies in the technology sector. In the industrial sector, bellwether Caterpillar’s strong earnings and promising outlook were not enough to keep its stock from closing down 2%. Meanwhile, Tyson Foods (ticker: TSN) cut full-year profit expectations on tariff concerns. TSN fell over 7% today and is down 30% year-to-date.
