Boeing Declines Nearly 7% Following 737 Crash

Adviser Investments’ Chief Investment Officer Jim Lowell has the market analysis for Monday, October 29. It was another down day across major U.S. stock indexes as event-driven news propelled markets: The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and NASDAQ declined 1.0%, 0.6% and 1.6%, respectively. Boeing dropped nearly 6% following the recent crash of a Boeing 737 MAX 8, a popular new aircraft series that began commercial operations last year. The accident, now under investigation, is the Max 8’s first major incident. Meanwhile, the Commerce Department revealed a 0.3% (inflation-adjusted) rise in consumer spending in September—the seventh consecutive month of gains.
