All major U.S. indexes advanced: The Dow Jones Industrial Average saw fractional gains; the S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite rose 0.7% and 0.2%, respectively—once again nudging both the S&P and NASDAQ to record highs. Meanwhile, Google parent Alphabet reported disappointing earnings and fell 8% in after-hours trading. Alphabet’s first-quarter revenue grew at 17%, versus 28% reported in the first quarter of 2018.
