April Home Sales Decline, Prices Rise

Adviser Investments Chief Investment Officer Jim Lowell has the market analysis for Tuesday, May 21. After two days of losses, major U.S. indexes rebounded with technology stocks leading today’s gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite rose 0.8%, 0.9% and 1.1%, respectively. Meanwhile, the National Association of Realtors announced that April’s existing home sales fell 0.4% year-over-year, well shy of the 2.7% gain that economists forecasted, as median prices rose 3.6%.
