Citigroup Down 4% as Bond-Trading Revenue Drops

Adviser Investments’ Chief Investment Officer Jim Lowell has the market analysis for Monday, January 14. Major U.S. stock indexes fell, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and NASDAQ down 0.3%, 0.5% and 1.0%, respectively. On the global front, investors responded to unsettling economic data out of China, with low import and export activity suggestive of economic weakness—this on top of uncertainty related to tomorrow’s Brexit vote. Closer to home, Citigroup’s stock dropped 4% on missed quarterly revenue expectations because of a 20% year-over-year decline in bond-trading revenue.
