Dan Wiener on Vanguard Founder Jack Bogle | Anti-ETF

Dan Wiener: Jack Bogle Was ‘Anti-ETF’

Adviser Investments Chairman and Co-Founder Daniel Wiener spoke with Yahoo Finance “First Trade” about the life and lasting impact of Jack Bogle: “Father of the Index Fund.” Among other things, Dan recounted his long and complicated history with Vanguard’s legendary founder—including the lawsuit that Vanguard’s then-CEO Bogle filed against him after he disclosed Bogle’s salary details. Dan said, “Jack was very, very anti-ETF because he saw them as a vehicle for trading. His idea was you bought an index fund, went away to a desert island, came back 12 years later and you were happy.”
