Amazon Drops 9% on Revenue, Guidance Miss

Adviser Investments’ Chief Investment Officer Jim Lowell has the market analysis for Thursday, October 25. Yesterday’s losses were nearly reversed as the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and NASDAQ advanced 1.6%, 1.9% and 3.0%, respectively. Meanwhile, Amazon dropped as much as 9% following its after-hours earnings announcement. Although the company surpassed profit expectations with record income, international revenue fell significantly short. Notably, Amazon also forecast more conservative current-quarter sales—predicting between year-over-year growth rate of 10-20%, versus the 22% analyst target.
